by Alec Gillis

Alec Gillis, "one of Hollywood's leading creature-effects designers" has created this amazing work of fiction. Reading it is a lot like watching a short sci-fi movie, each page being a still with brief text describing what's happening in the images.
It's written in the style of a case file from a space expedition that occurred in 2021. There is an extensive introduction that is well worth reading - it sets up the story told with the images. The pictures are supposed to be actual documentary photos of what the futuristic "astronaut" encounters on his mission to an inhabited far-away planet.
Cryogenics, alien life forms, bizarre evolutionary patterns, and a little family drama are all featured here. More than anything, I love a good story, and Worlds has that, too.
Since the holidays are upon us, I'll mention that this would make an excellent gift for artists/students looking for visual inspiration, as well as readers who are into science fiction.
