New in Graphic Novels: Alan's War

A lot of the best cartoonists working today are from France. One of these greats is Emmanuel Guibert. In his book Alan's War: The Memories of G.I. Alan Cope (call # GRAPHIC NOVEL PN6747 .G85 G8413 2008) Guibert creates a comics narrative from the recollections of American World War II veteran Alan Cope. Cope moved to France after the war and he and Guibert met and became friends in 1995. Cope is a great storyteller and his war experiences are truly unique. Guibert amazing artwork and spot on pacing provide the perfect vehicle for Cope's recollections.

Guibert's water drawing technique is pretty wonderful to behold. Below is a video of Guibert in action.
